Roots & Shoots Resource Box for Schools | Terms & Conditions

Roots & Shoots Resource Box Terms and Conditions:

1. By registering for the Roots & Shoots Resource Box initiative, you represent that you are the teacher or home-school educator (hereon after referred to as ‘Teacher(s)’) and you agree to fulfil the responsibilities of Teacher(s) as indicated in these terms and conditions. 
2. It is the responsibility of Teacher(s) to ensure that all participants involved in any group/project related to the Resource Box comply with all applicable laws relating to educating, working, or volunteering with children in respective States or Territories. 
3. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, JGIA, its affiliates, and each of their officers, employees, and volunteers (together, the ‘JGIA Parties’) will not be held accountable or liable for individuals or groups not adhering to relevant laws or duty of care guidelines, including those relating to minors.
4. It is the responsibility of Teacher(s) to document a risk assessment for any project steps and activities appropriate to the project site, activities, and age of participants. 
5. Teacher(s) must also: 
   1. take all reasonable steps to reduce risks to participants in their activities, and not themselves do anything that could reasonably be expected to place participants at risk of suffering harm, breaching the law, or harming any other person or property;
   2. warn participants (and, in the case of minors, their parents/guardians) in advance in writing of all risks of participation, including risks of injury, illness, death or damage to or loss or destruction of property; 
   3. reasonably satisfy themselves that participants (and, in the case of minors, their parents/guardians) understand and accept those risks; and 
   4. ensure that the group is sufficiently instructed and insured against those risks. 
6. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the JGIA Parties will not be held accountable or liable for accidents, misadventure, damage to or loss or destruction of property, or illness, injury, or death as a result of or in connection with participation in Roots & Shoots activities, including the Resource Box initiative.
7. Teacher(s) must notify participants (and, in the case of minors, their parents/guardians) that the activities and projects of Resource Box projects or activities are independent of JGIA Parties and will not be supervised or directed by the JGIA Parties unless JGIA expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
8. The Teacher(s) are responsible for determining which activities and projects are undertaken, in consultation with each group the Teacher(s) are supervising. 
9. The JGIA Parties may provide information and assistance to facilitate activities and projects contained in the Resource Box, but neither the provision of that information and assistance, nor the receipt of this form, nor registration of a group project or activity indicates any approval or endorsement by the JGIA Parties of a group’s activities or projects. 
10. Teacher(s) wishing to receive formal approval and/or endorsement of their activities must contact JGIA to seek separate written approval which may be given, withheld, or made subject to conditions at JGIA’s discretion. Without limitation, JGIA will not approve a project that does not align with core Roots & Shoots and JGIA values. 11. By registering, you are also agreeing to be contacted by JGIA’s key delivery partners for the purposes of executing the Resource Box initiative. These partners will only use the data in keeping with their privacy policies. No data will be shared beyond the identified delivery partners in the registration form and only for the purposes identified. No data will be permanently stored by any JGIA partner. This includes the University of Adelaide as well as Resilient Youth Australia.
12. JGIA reserves the right to cancel or modify the Resource Box initiative at any time. JGIA will use reasonable endeavours to notify you of changes or cancellation of the Resource Box initiative by posting a notice on our website or another method selected by JGIA. 
13. If JGIA notifies you that the Resource Box initiative has been cancelled or you do not agree to the changes, you must promptly cease:
    1. referring to your group as a Roots & Shoots group; and 
    2. referring to your group’s projects or activities as Roots & Shoots projects or activities or being under the JGIA banner.

Roots & Shoots Resource Box Research

1. Roots & Shoots Resource Box initiative is partnering with the University of Adelaide to undertake research into the relationship between children’s engagement with nature at school, school engagement, wellbeing, and environmental attitudes and actions. This research is conducted through the student and staff survey accompanying the Roots & Shoots Resource Box.
2. By registering, you are agreeing to participate in the research. More information about the research conducted by the University of Adelaide is available by visiting the following link: HERE.
3. If you have questions or would like additional or further information about the research undertaken by the University of Adelaide, please contact resourcebox@adelaide.edu.au. 
4. By continuing with the registration, you hereby acknowledge you have read and understood the information available at the above link regarding the research, have availed yourself of the opportunity to request further information, and are continuing to participate with the Roots & Shoots Resource Box initiative with fully informed consent. This includes permitting JGIA Parties to share information with the researchers at the University of Adelaide in line with authorised disclosure pursuant to our Privacy Policy available on the JGIA website.
5. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the JGIA Parties will not be held accountable or liable for accidents, misadventure, damage to or loss or destruction of property, or illness, injury, or death as a result of or in connection with participation in the research undertake by it or any of its affiliates including but not limited to Resilient Youth Australia and the University of Adelaide.
6. Should you no longer wish to participate with the research, please do not complete the survey accompanying the Roots & Shoots Resource Box.
