If you’ve an idea to benefit animals, people and environment - no matter how big or small - we want to help you. Across Australia, our Roots & Shoots local leaders are ready to guide our members in planning, creating and realising your activity. Whether you’re an individual, youth group or school we provide the skills, tools and mentoring to make your activity a success.
What is a Roots & Shoots Activity?
Open to all Roots & Shoots Members, an activity is anything that makes a better world for animals, people and our shared environment. You could organise a beach cleanup or build a pollinator garden, create a presentation for your school or start a local group, hold a fundraising event to writing a book! Your activity may take a day, or a month - it is totally up to you. If it is good for the planet, then that is an activity worth doing! Be the change you want to see
The best way to make a difference is to start: together our collective achievements make a huge impact. By starting your activity, you’re leading by example too! With thousands of Roots & Shoots members undertaking local action across Australia and almost 100 countries, we are making a world of difference.
By joining Roots & Shoots then registering your activity you’ll be part of a growing tally of positive action, to encourage others to get their idea going and demonstrate how Roots & Shoots has a massive impact. You will also receive the support of our Roots & Shoots leaders to get started and guide you to completion.
Get recognised
When you finish your activity we invite you to share your success with us, including some photos to document your amazing achievement. We will then send you a signed Roots & Shoots certificate and share your awesome accomplishment with other members - across the world.

If you are a Root & Shoots member, and keen to take the next step, fill out our activity registration form. Your local Roots & Shoots leader will then be in touch to guide you through the next steps - which could be applying for a $250 or $500 Roots & Shoots Mini Grant to help fund your idea.
