Roots & Shoots FLO (Flexible Learning Options) students and staff at Seaton High School have establish and maintain a completely organic garden that can be used by the entire school. Here they grow and harvest fresh fruit and vegetables that are utilised by integrating them in our daily cooking. Each week they have a focused nutritional theme, such as Vitamin C, Omega, Gluten free etc, which are used as a guide to base their cooking for recess and lunch. The students learn through opportunities to harvest and maintain the garden, use the produce in their cooking, read and follow recipes, cook and become aware of certain foods nutritional value. With 86 students involved maintaining the garden has taught them horticultural skills they can take with the into the workforce.
