Roots & Shoots event at Monarto Zoological Park included a bush walk, special chimpanzee talk, community mapping and construction of a giant peace dove. The special chimpanzee talk took place at Jane Goodall’s Chimpanzee Conservation Centre where students spent some time with the chimps, followed by a bush walk to the
waterhole where students used community mapping to establish if the giraffes had sufficient access to food, water and shelter. After this they headed to Indaba Bush Camp where they made a peace circle and participated in various activities. Monarto is the largest open-range zoo in the world spanning more than 1,000 hectares and home to more than 500 animals and 50 species.
